labor of love...

Jessica has been caring for a stray cat she named, Ginger. Ginger became pregnant and Jessica has been tracking the pregnancy so she knew when the babies were due and that Ginger was starting labor yesterday afternoon.
Once she definitely knew a baby was coming she came to get me since I had never seen a birth like this before....neither had Jessica :)
Below are pictures to chronicle the births....



Here is Ginger with the leg and tail of the first baby coming out. Poor thing was breach and had one hind leg still in. According to the book this is the most difficult birth for the mother.

Here is the baby emerging...












The baby has arrived!! This was her first one and I think even she was surprised at it.







Here is the baby with the umbilical cord...
I know this is gross for some...but I did warn you not to read if you are grossed out easily :)











This is one of my favorite pictures. Mom is checking out her new babe. It's sooo sweet.

This picture is after she had the second baby. You can see baby #1 at the end of her and then baby #2 is the orange blob by her head.

Here is Ginger with all her babies. You can't see the other orange colored one because the other ones crowded over him.

And finally....all 4 babies! The two dark ones are girls, the orange one is a boy and the cream colored one is a boy.

The kids have named them.
Dark #1 is "Eagle"
Dark #2 is "Sparrow"
Orange is "Firestar"
Cream is "Max"

I bet you can guess which one Ryan named....it's the most normal name...lol!!
"Sparrow" is Patrick & I. It's for Jack Sparrow on Pirates but the baby is a girl so we shortened it :)
