halloween fun...

I must tell you, I feel like Halloween has snuck up on me this year. Probably because Autumn & Ryan need to have their costumes ready a week early for a bowling tournament.

We have had fun with it though. The kids wanted to buy all new stuff and I convinced them that making your costume was half the fun :) I can remember when mom used to make ours and/or we used stuff we had to come up with something.

The thrift stores have been our friends in this venture. That and for Jessica, the dentist has been a lifesaver of sorts :)
When we were there a week ago, he made her vampire fangs to wear. They are made out of filling material and molded to fit her teeth. We just have to put some dental glue stuff on them and they stay in for as long as she needs :)

We found Jessica's outfit at Goodwill. A cute skirt and shirt that I wish she would wear even after this....I know she will wear the shirt, but it's a no go on the skirt. She's a pants kid.

Ryan lucked out and we found his purple suit....yes, I said PURPLE....at the Salvation Army thrift store. I couldn't believe he found the suit coat, let alone the pants!! We found him an orange shirt that I am dying a darker orange as I type. I think I have only spent $11 on his whole outfit. That includes the suit, shoes, dye, material for the tie, make-up, and hair color. He is going to be the Joker from Batman (the Jack Nicholson one).

Patrick also lucked out at Salvation Army and we found him black dress pants, a black suit jacket, a white dress shirt, & a black tye. I did have to buy him a pair of shoes but he needed new dress shoes anyway and I had found any at the thrift store. So the $12 for the shoes along with the $5 for his clothes, plus his hair dye and I think I have spent $20 on him. :) Still good.

Autumn is going to be catwoman from the same Batman movie. We bought her a leotard at a thrift store that I am dying black (she is helping me). She is using a mask from home that Harold adjusted to work for her, and she and dad made a whip for her. We had to buy her the boots she needs so that sucked, but I made her PROMISE she will wear them more than just Halloween. So I've spent about $20 on her also.

I will post pictures once I get one of them all dressed up. Three Batman movie characters and our little Vampire :)

Anyhow, I'm proud of how we are doing with this :)
