Baby Hummingbirds...

We had homeschool group at the West Wetlands Park again today. This is the park with the really nice playground from last weeks pictures. :)
Anyhow, one of the mom's pointed out that there was a Hummingbird nest in one of the trees. We all went to have a peek. You just can not believe how tiny one of these nests are unless you actually view it in person! It took me a minute to find it because it was sooo tiny! I mean, think of the size of a can of chew (the kind my gross husband puts in his mouth!)...a bit smaller than that in diameter.
As you can see in the picture, there were two babies in the nest. They honestly looked like little catapillers!

This second picture shows Momma Hummingbird back on the nest as we were leaving the park a couple hours later. :)

The nest is in the tree on a branch. It's so incredible! They are TINY...literally like oversized catapillars at the point when we saw them. We're going to go back and see how they are now.
