her dream coming true...

Yesterday Jessica started her dream "job". She is volunteering at our Vet's office. It's something she has been waiting 2 years to be able to do!
She went there when she was 10-1/2 to interview our vet and to be her shadow for a day. She had a hard time with the surgery aspect and came home early. Two years later she filled out a volunteer application, wrote a resume', and went through a modified interview.
She went in yesterday to fill out more paperwork...they treat you just like an employee even though you are just a volunteer. She will have to undergo random drug testing just like the paid workers there and she has the same rights as far as grievances, sexual harrassment, etc.... A lot of this was a bit overwhelming for her but it's also a fantastic learning experience!!
She even has to punch in and out on a time card and check her schedule to see when she "works". It's great :)
Yesterday she worked in "Zone 1" where she helped pull patient files, put information in them, refile, etc... She said she enjoyed it. She also got a tour of the clinic and was introduced to all working there.
She went back in at 8 this morning to help the young man who works in "Zone 5" and also did some "Zone 3" work. Basically she cleaned kennels, cleaned up dog doo outside, helped return an animal to it's "parent", helped put away some surgical stuff, etc.....
She is loving it and will go back in Mon & Tuesday of next week.

you look quite professional, glad you are enjoying this experience. It not too many kids get a chance to do this kind of volunteering.
