interesting movie night...

I gotta tell ya, seeing a movie at the base movie theatre is always an interesting experience but even more so last night.

I went to see P.S. I Love You with a friend last night. I have waited and waited to see this movie, even thinking I was going to have to wait for it to be released on DVD. Then the base decided to show it again and I was jumping for joy and adament that I was going to see it last night no. matter. what.

So after we get our butter loaded small popcorns we sit down to visit for the few minutes before the movie will start. All is going well. The video clips we are used to start to happen and we stand for the National Anthem (I will never get tired of seeing Marines "snap to" in a movie theatre because of the Anthem coming on :) )....

The previews start...the first one is for "The Bucket List" which I have seen so I notice when they show one part that the movie is backwards....you know, like looking in a mirror. This is a bit strange, not to mention there is no sound.
We all sit there figuring they will stop it anytime and fix it. Umm..yea....that's what would happen if you had someone older than 16 working who was more interested in patrons than chatting!

A couple of guys had to walk out and let them know it was not right. They were like, "ooppss....we'll fix that". So 30 minutes later the movie starts back up and with sound. Woohooo! Now the problem is that it is in major widescreen format and everyone is very squatty looking. Ugghh... If you've seen Hillary Swank anywhere before, you know that she is very tall and very thin/in shape. Yea well, in this movie because of the mess up she was very compact and had the hugest butt you've ever seen. Not to mention how aweful her face looks scrunched up and it even made her arms look long. She looked like that little bald creature from Lord of the Rings. Yuck!!

We committed to just watching it because we were there and the story was good. It was painful though and we'll have to watch it again on DVD just to see how everything was supposed to look.

Oh and either the boom operator and the editor were really bad or it was just because of the way the movie was showing on this screen but you could see the mikes from up above almost ALL. THE. TIME. That makes for an annoying movie.

Thankfully I only spent $2 to get in and they gave us a free ticket to come back for another movie because of how bad this was :)

So I'll use my ticket to see Sweeny Todd :) (and they better not mess up Johnny's Depp's beautiful body or I'll have to hurt someone!)
