sincerely, ryan...

Ryan had to write a paper for an English assigment and I wanted to share it with you. Harold and I had a few chuckles :)
He was learning to write for "Audience and Purpose" and was given a situation to write about. The situation was that he had been out with some friends a month ago and got into a little bit of trouble. He was grounded for a month and had never been in trouble before that. Now he is allowed to go out on Fri & Sat's only and has to be home by 9pm. His friends have plans but they get to stay out until 11pm. He has to write a note to his friends to explain the situation and a note to his parents to ask for a different set of rules.

The following is Ryan's work:

Part 1:
My audience is my friends who are between the ages of 11-14. They’re both boys and girls and I want to tell them about the rules and restrictions parents give me. My other audience is my parents and I want to explain the new rules and restrictions they need to give me. My parents’ beliefs are that if I don’t obey the rules there will be consequences for my disobedience. My friends’ beliefs are that they would probably understand the rules my parents give me.

Part 2:
Dear friends, I got in trouble for being out too late with you guys. So they told me I could go out with you guys but instead of being at home by 11:00 PM I have to be home by 9:00 PM. I hope you guys understand the consequences I had to face and the new rules I must follow. So I can’t do some of the things you guys like to do such as: watch scary movies, play explicit video games and gamble.

Part 3:
Dear parents, I want to talk to you about new rules and restrictions for me when I go out with my friends. I’m sorry for what I did and can you please like change my time limit when I go out with my friends? Can you please give me new privileges? What will I have to do to earn these rights from you? I promise if this happens again I will face the consequences and accept any punishment you give me.

Well, we didn't have to answer. It was just a senerio presented for him to write about. I just loved the answers though...he's such a riot!!

No, Bev...this is not the essay I messaged you about. That was another one that he had to do. This was the easier one. That one was about tobacco use by teens. He did a pretty good job :)
