conferences...

Yesterday and today we had Parent/Teacher conferences for Autumn and Patrick.

Autumn's was yesterday and her teacher had high praise for her. She really is lacking in nothing and her teacher wants to keep pushing her. We are completly ok with this and even approved the teacher upping the amount of homework Autumn has each week. :) We are such nice parents...haha!! To show just how nice we are, we told the teacher that if she had any work Autumn could do over the two-week fall break to go ahead and send it home :) She did!

Patrick's conference was today. We weren't sure what to expect going in. Patrick didn't do traditional Kindergarten and so was lacking in some areas. They went ahead and put him in First Grade at the beginning of the year regardless. His teacher says she is glad they did because he is a little sponge! He tested low in a lot of things at the beginning of the year and has improved GREATLY in just eight weeks. She says she has no doubt that he will move up to the next reading group level after Christmas :) He is also really good in Math. Go figure that Jessica and I are the ones that stink at that subject!!
We asked her if he is goofy in class and she smiled and said yes, but he knows when he can be and when it's not ok. Glad to hear that!
She also said he has amazing comprehension skills. He has just a little work to do at home to catch up to the level of some of the other first graders as far as phonics and writing go and she is really glad we did not just put him in Kinder. She said he would have been too stifled there.

It sure is nice to hear good things about your kids :) Autumn's teacher said she is a great student to have. She is eager to learn and is a great help also.

Jessica talked to her Homeroom teacher today about her grades. Too bad Jess didn't give us much info on that....gonna have to get after her.

Ryan is doing ok in school. I need to call and talk to a couple of his teachers. His English especially is beyond his skills right now. We have to figure out how to work this out to benefit him best.

Great news for the kids schools. Sounds like this was a really good move, glad they are both doing so well. Hope Jess and Ryan do also. Keep up the good work Autumn and Patrick. Love Mom
