update...

I figured I had better get an updated post on here before my sister sends me a text or email complaining that I don't update enough :)

There is not too much to say though...
My mom was here for a week and we had a good visit. Of course we made LOTS of donuts...YUM!! I'd share pictures but mom has them on her camara so I'll have to wait for a disk from her.
Patrick has started to talk to her more, and he asked her to help him with a book he was working on so he actually SAT IN HER LAP! Big step for him. If you didn't know, Patrick has never been physically close to gramma or grampa. He's always been a bit stand-offish for some reason....he needed his own time to bridge the gap. Thankfully, Grampa got some of the time with Patrick sitting by him and hugging him before grampa went to heaven. Now it's gramma's turn. :)

Ryan and Jessica went to a winter camp for church over last weekend. They loved it.....and want to go back there for summer camp :) They got to play in snow, go tubing, meet new friends and Ryan sang a song for their version of "american idol". i wish I could have seen/heard him.

Monday I took mom back to San Diego to fly out the next morning. It would have been a nicer trip had I not got lost trying to find the 32nd St Naval Base where we had a room at the Inn there. It was an interesting time....

Tuesday mom flew out. We all wish she could have spent more time here but we understand about needing to get back too.

Thursday Autumn & I made a trip to San Diego because I had appts there. Autumn got to hang out at her friend, Catherine's house while I was at my appts. We both spent the night there....we hadn't seen them in about 4 months and that was just too long. Friday we ended up hanging around San Diego doing some things while waiting for Catherine to get out of school...we then brought her back to Yuma with us for the weekend. Tomorrow we'll drive her back and get dinner at one of our favorite places before heading home.

The biggest update of all is that we are homeschooling Autumn again. Public school and her were not a good match. She became extremely bored and did not like having to sit in a desk all day. Besides, when you are one of the two highest readers in your reading group and so you end up tutoring other students and correcting papers what are you really getting out of that?
She became more obstinate about getting up and going to school and came home in a bad mood. It just was not worth it anymore. So far she has spent one week at home and is doing better. I have dug out some of my homeschool stuff and am making a plan for this week. We'll have some regular lessons mixed in with some great field trips and hands on stuff :)

Patrick continues in school for now. He enjoys his class and his friends. Although, he doesn't really enjoy getting a yellow card for behavior. (I think he secretly does because everything he gets one for and he tells us, it's something goofy and he smiles or laughs while telling us...)

Well, there's my update. Your welcome Bev ;)
